scénář vznikl na základě dosud nepublikovaného románového textu mladého egyptského autora, jenž vytvořil literární obraz korupce a jiných společenských nešvarů na pozadí historického a politického vývoje egypta 20. století. autor předlohy vycházel z autentických archívních materiálů obsahujících policejní záznamy zachycující výpovědi osob, které tím či oním způsobem podlehly tlaku nemilosrdných sociálních a ekonomických poměrů.
